Basketball is in the Filipino DNA
There's a reason the Philippines fields some of the most passionate basketball fans anywhere in the world. The sport arrived with the Americans in the early 1900s and never left — it took root in every barangay, every school yard, every street corner with a makeshift ring nailed to a post.
The PBA is the second-oldest professional basketball league in the world, after the NBA — a fact that every Filipino fan carries with pride. Teams like San Miguel, Ginebra, and TNT aren't just sports franchises; they're cultural institutions with multigenerational followings that cut across regions, social classes, and generations.
The UAAP adds another layer of intensity — school loyalty runs deep in the Philippines, and a DLSU-Ateneo game in Finals season practically shuts down the city. People watch from offices, from malls, from barber shops. Bets are made between friends over text and in group chats.
291lodi understands this culture because we're part of it. Our basketball betting platform is built by people who grew up watching these games, who know what it feels like when your team hits a game-winner in the final second. We built 291lodi to make that feeling even more electric — and to make sure the experience of betting on it is as seamless as a June Mar Fajardo post move.
And with the NBA accessible on cable and streaming across the country, Filipino fans have developed deep familiarity with American basketball too — following players like Kai Sotto on his international journey with the same passion they bring to the PBA. 291lodi covers both worlds, all in one place.
